OSHA is Increasing Safety Enforcement Efforts in 2023, Employee Benefit News

Partner Heather MacDougall spoke with Employee Benefit News about moves by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to increase safety enforcement efforts. These would include a new policy allowing instance-by-instance citations to be issued in cases where the agency finds serious violations of OSHA standards.

Heather said given this focus by OSHA, employers should step up compliance efforts and fix any issues in their health and safety standards.

"Ensure that there are accurate reporting practices and record keeping," Heather said.

"These violations can yield significant monetary penalties under the new instance-by-instance policy."
