Ron Scheberle is a senior consultant at Bingham Consulting Group. Prior to joining the firm, he served for 31 years as a key member of the Verizon and GTE Federal and State Governmental Affairs Advocacy Team. He was the executive assistant and adviser to the chairman of the board of GTE for four years and a staff member to two U.S. senators for seven years.
Ron has a thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory issues and the effect on the business community. Some of the complex areas he has worked on include telecommunications, taxes, information technology, environmental, international, defense and personnel issues.
During his business and political career of 38 years, Ron has provided extensive strategic counsel and advice to senior level business executives, congressional offices, and state government officials on legislative, regulatory and business issues.
- While at Verizon and GTE, Ron was instrumental in developing and directing:
- 50-state legislative/governmental key contact program
- Issue management and advocacy programs on dozens of corporate jugular issues
- Coalition management program
- PAC and corporate political contributions planning, strategy and implementation program
- Multicultural marketing program utilizing the Advocacy Team
- Ron also has extensive experience developing and implementing grass roots advocacy plans.
He is serving or has served on the board of directors and advisory councils of the major national organizations of elected state government officials. These include the American Legislative Exchange Council, National Conference of State Legislatures, Council of State Governments, State Legislative Leaders Foundation, Senate Presidents’ Forum, National Speakers’ Conference, National Black Caucus of State Legislators, National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, Republican Governors’ Association, Republican Attorneys’ General Association, Republican Legislative Campaign Committee, Democratic Governors’ Association, Democratic Attorneys’ General Association, Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and the State Governmental Affairs Council. His involvement has allowed him the opportunity to maintain and build strong working relationships with the state government leaders and officials in the majority of the states.
