Richard Toelke is deputy co-chair of Bingham’s Real Estate Practice Group. Rich has represented developers, institutional property owners, pension fund advisers, REITs, lenders, and other owners and operators of real estate in all aspects of transactional real estate practice. He has worked on a wide variety of transactions both regionally and nationally, including acquisitions and dispositions of office, industrial, R&D and multifamily properties; leasing transactions; financing arrangements; joint ventures; and development projects.

Rich has been identified as one of Boston’s best real estate lawyers in Chambers USA, the Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers.

Experience

  • Represents the Berkshire Group and CBRE Global Investors as lead real estate counsel on their acquisitions and financing of multifamily apartment complexes throughout the United States
  • Represented Berkeley Investments and a group of German investors in the $97 million acquisition and financing of a 12-building portfolio of office and industrial buildings consisting of more than 700,000 square feet in the Seaport District of downtown Boston, Mass.
  • Represented a joint venture between Berkeley Investments and Starwood Capital Group in the $30 million acquisition, financing and redevelopment of the Worcester Center and Worcester Common Fashion Outlets Mall in Worcester, Mass., composed of more than 1 million square feet of mixed-use retail, office and parking space
  • Represented a joint venture between Essex River Ventures and The Praedium Group in the $33.5 million acquisition and financing of the Lexington Corporate Center in Lexington, Mass., an office complex comprised of four buildings containing an aggregate of 285,000 square feet
  • Represented the Raytheon Company in connection with the negotiation of a 435,000-square-foot headquarters lease at the Metro North Corporate Center in Woburn, Mass., one of the largest deal in the last 10 years in suburban Boston; this lease was one of the “Deals of the Year” in the Boston Business Journal
  • Represented a joint venture between Berkeley Investments and a group of German investors in the $27 million acquisition and financing of a newly renovated “Class A” office building containing 150,000 square feet located at 343 Congress Street in the Seaport District of Boston, Mass.
