Laura Langley practices in the litigation area with an emphasis on employment law, constitutional and appellate litigation, and complex contract disputes. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants across a diverse array of industries, working with teams that have obtained victories and successful settlements for media, finance, energy and retail industry clients.

Laura joined Bingham following a clerkship with the Hon. David A. Mills of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. While in law school, Laura worked as a judicial extern for the Hon. Joyce London Alexander of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She also interned for civil rights organizations in Boston and the District of Columbia.

Prior to law school, Laura worked as a development associate at Boston Medical Center and as the assistant director of communications and development at Legal Community Against Violence in San Francisco.

  • Doe No. 1 v. Reed, S. Ct. No. 09-559 — Filed amicus brief for the Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus and Susan Wagner supporting the Ninth Circuit’s decision reversing an order enjoining the disclosure of names of people who signed a Washington state referendum seeking to repeal a statute granting same-sex domestic partners the same rights as married couples
  • T.W. Nickerson, Inc. v. Fleet National Bank, 456 Mass. 562, __ N.E.2d __ (2010) — Holding that Fleet neither owed nor breached any duty of good faith and fair dealing to the lessee of property held in trust by Fleet, and that Fleet was not liable for unfair or deceptive trade practices
  • Howell v. Enterprise Publishing LLC, 455 Mass. 641, 920 N.E.2d 1 (2010) — Holding that fair report privilege protected articles regarding confidential government hearings even when based on confidential news sources
  • Fleet Boston Financial Corp. v. Alt, 668 F. Supp. 2d 277 (D. Mass. 2009) — Holding that former employees were never stockholders and thus had no breach of fiduciary duty claim against majority stockholder
  • Forest Grove School District v. T.A., S. Ct. No. 08-305, 557 U.S. __ (2009) — Assisted in U.S. Supreme Court victory for an Oregon child with a disability and his family. The Court held that parents may recover reimbursement in appropriate cases if a school district fails to make a free appropriate public education available to the child.
  • Frate v. Jordan’s Furniture, Inc., 74 Mass. App. Ct. 1126, 909 N.E.2d 1193, 2009 WL 2145867 (2009)  — Holding that promotion offering rebate of the price of furniture purchased if the Red Sox won the World Series was not an illegal lottery
