Through every phase of our development as a global, market-leading firm, our diversity program has consistently played a critical role in our culture, business and values.
Bingham is proud to be recognized for our ongoing commitment, including by FORTUNE magazine, MultiCultural Law magazine; Minority Law Journal; and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This recognition reflects the success of key elements of our initiative:
A Diversity Executive Committee of 12 practicing partners focuses on recruiting, attorney development and business development. This group works with lawyer and staff representatives on the broader Diversity Committee as well as with firm leadership to implement our Diversity Action Plan, a work plan with measurable goals, accountability and timelines that was developed through a comprehensive internal evaluation and in consultation with all firm constituents.
Formal employee resource groups such as the Bingham Pride Network and IMPACT (Initiative by Multicultural Partners and Associates for Cooperation and Transformation) are leveraged to design creative recruitment avenues, increase retention and promote top diverse talent at the firm. These groups have executive sponsors working as direct channels to senior leadership.
A robust Women’s Mentoring Program offers targeted training and social programming for our women lawyers, and a signature Celebrating Women series provides an opportunity for us to celebrate female clients and friends at a variety of cultural events.
We offer many scholarship and mentoring opportunities, all designed to enhance our recruitment, retention and development of diverse talent. We are especially proud of our new Thurgood Marshall Fellowship for law students.
Strategic Partnerships
We recognize the value of partnering with external organizations to further understand the role diversity plays in our global economy and how we can continue to develop and evolve our programs.
JFK50: Justice for All
This three-year partnership between Bingham and the JFK Presidential Library Foundation seeks to inspire and engage a new generation of Americans — business executives, community leaders, educators and young people — to act on President Kennedy’s call for “equal rights and equal opportunities… to treat our fellow Americans as we want to be treated.”
Leadership Council on Legal Diversity
Bingham is a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity whose vision is to significantly advance diversity and inclusion in our profession. Comprised of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners, the group is committed to drive material change in our institutions and in the profession generally.
